According to recent research, the average household is expected to see an increase of £155 in their energy bills this winter.
This is due to the analysis of Ofgem's energy price cap, which has led finance experts to warn that the cost of living crisis is far from over for many families.
While the price cap limits the amount that suppliers can charge for default tariffs for those with average energy usage, it does not apply to those on a variable tariff or those with above-average usage.
Last year, the average annual household energy bill was £1,976, but it has since fallen to £1,568 for Q3 of this year. Despite this decrease, experts are predicting a rise in costs in the latter half of the year.
British Gas has been criticized for profiting from the energy crisis, with calls for the oil and gas industry to be properly taxed to prevent further profiteering.
